Recipe: Party Style Urad Dal Kadhi

Food for weddings and parties is different; almost every dish is special in itself. One of those special dishes is Urad Dal Ki Kadhi. Today we are going to make this special dish, urad dal kadhi. It is very easy to make and it is ready in no time. Its taste is amazing; once you eat it, you will love to make it again and again. Ingredients for Urad Dal Kadhi

Urad Dal – 3/4 cup (150 grams)

Salt – 1/2 tsp

Green Chilli – 2, finely chopped

Ginger – 1 teaspoon, grated

Coriander Leaves

Asafetida – Asafoetida – 1/2 pinch

Mustard Oil for frying

Curd – 1.25 cups

Oil – 1-1.5 tbsp

Cumin Seeds – 1/4

Ginger – 1 teaspoon, grated

Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp

Asafetida – Asafoetida – 1/2 pinch

Red Chilli – 1/2 tsp

For Tadka

Oil – 2 tsp

Cumin Seeds – 1/4 tsp

Asafetida – Asafoetida – 1/2 pinch

Dry Red Chilli – 2

Curry Leaves – 8-10

Kashmiri Red Chilli – 1/2 tsp

Process of making batter for Pakoras and Kadhi

Wash 3/4 cup urad dal well and soak it in water for 3 hours. Then remove the water, add the soaked dal and 2-3 tablespoons of water to the mixer jar, and grind it coarsely. Take out the ground dal in a bowl.

Add 1/2 tsp salt, 2 finely chopped green chilies, and 1 tsp grated ginger. Mixing them well, beat the dal while stirring continuously for 3-4 minutes. When the dal swells well, add some green coriander and 1/2 pinch of asafoetida and mix well. In this way, the batter for the pakoras will be ready.

In the same mixer jar, add 1.25 cups of curd and beat it. Take it out in a bowl and add 4 cups of water and mix well. In this way, the batter for the curry will be ready.

Process of frying Pakora

Heat mustard oil in a pan. The oil should be medium-high and the flame should be medium-high. Put the pakoras in hot oil and fry them for a while, then sprinkle a little oil on them and fry them flipping them until they turn light golden brown. Take them out and put them in the curry mixture.

Fry all, in the same way, remember to save some batter at the end. Fry all the pakoras, dip them in the curry mixture and keep them for some time. Then remove the pakoras from the oil and add the remaining pakora batter to it and mix well.

Process of making Kadhi

Heat 1-1.5 tbsp oil in a pan. Add 1/4 tsp cumin seeds, 1 tsp grated ginger; 1 tsp finely chopped green chilies, and 3 whole green chilies to the hot oil. Lightly fry them on low flame then add 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder and 1/2 pinch of asafoetida and fry lightly.

After roasting the spices, add the curry paste to it and cook it till it boils by stirring continuously. Meanwhile, add 1 cup of water and 1/2 teaspoon of crushed red chilies. When the kadhi comes to a boil, cook it for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Then add 1 teaspoon of salt and pagodas and mix well. Now cook it for 7 minutes stirring occasionally. When the time is up, the curry will be ready, switch off the flame and take it out in a bowl.

Process of making Tadka

Heat 2 teaspoons of oil in a frying pan. Add 1/4 teaspoon of cumin seeds, 1/2 pinch of asafoetida, 2 whole red chilies, and 8-10 curry leaves in hot oil. Lightly fry them on low flame, then turn off the flame and add 1/2 teaspoon of Kashmiri red chilies.

Put this tadka on the kadhi and stir it lightly. In this way, the urad dal curry will be ready. Serve it and enjoy its taste.
