“Ask Husbands to Drink Liquor at Home”, Madhya Pradesh Minister’s Bizarre Suggestion to Women!

Bhopal: Proposing an atypical method to check alcohol consumption, Madhya Pradesh’s Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Narayan Singh Kushwaha, suggested that women should ask their husbands to drink at home rather than outside. He made this suggestion during an awareness campaign against drug and alcohol abuse in Bhopal on Friday.

He said, “If mothers and sisters want their husbands to stop drinking, first tell them not to drink outside. Ask them to bring the alcohol home and drink in front of you. If they drink in front of their families, their consumption will gradually decrease, and eventually, they will stop. They will feel ashamed to drink in front of their wives and children.”

“Also, remind them that their children might start drinking by following their example. This method is practical, and husbands will quit drinking,” he added.

Mukesh Nayak, President of the Congress Media Cell, reacted and said, “The minister’s intention is right, but his way of conveying it is wrong. Drinking at home can turn the house into a centre of conflict and domestic violence. He should have simply advised people not to drink at all.”
