₹13 Cr Bridge Collapses Before Inauguration In Bihar

Begusarai (Bihar): A part of a bridge built over the Burhi Gandak River in Sahebpur Kamal of Bihar’s Begusarai district collapsed and sank into the river on Sunday. The bridge had not yet been officially opened and had cost more than Rs 13 crore to construct.

“It was to be inaugurated soon but it collapsed before that,” a senior official said.

“The bridge was temporarily shut for use. We’re assessing the reason behind the bridge collapse,” he added.

Locals claim that over the past three days, cracks have appeared in the 206-meter-long bridge.

According to authorities, nobody was on the bridge when the incident occurred.

The bridge was constructed under the Chief Minister National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) program.

According to an official, the bridge collapse would affect more than 20,000 people who would be cut off from important roads and cities. The official stated that “It will affect students, farmers, and those in need of medical treatment.”
