10% of World Population Likely To Be Infected By COVID in Next 90 Days, Warns Scientist

Massachusetts: After the relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions, China is seeing a significant rise in coronavirus cases, and hospitals are completely overburdened. According to epidemiologist and health economist Eric Feigl-Ding, over the next 90 days, 10% of the global population and more than 60% of China are expected to contract the virus, with millions of deaths likely.

Since the government disclosed four deaths between November 19 and November 23, China has not reported any Covid deaths in Beijing. China lifted off much of the lockdown, testing, and quarantine regimes that supported its “Zero Covid” approach for the past three years to suppress even modest outbreaks of the virus in a series of dramatic actions this month.

It has been challenging to gauge the extent of China’s coronavirus outbreak since testing restrictions have been loosened. As fewer people test themselves at public facilities, the number of daily national case counts has steadily decreased, and earlier this week, health authorities stopped publishing daily totals of asymptomatic cases for the first time since the pandemic started.
