206 Govindas Injured During Janmashtami Dahi Handi Celebrations in Mumbai

Mumbai: At least 206 Govindas were injured while celebrating Dahi Handi in Mumbai on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami.

According to reports, 157 Govindas were discharged after getting treated for their injuries at the OPDs of different private hospitals in the city.

Last year, around 195 persons were injured during the Dahi Handi celebrations. As per the BMC report, out of the 195 injured Govindas, 18 were admitted to hospitals while the remaining 177 were discharged after first aid.

Dahi Handi is celebrated on Janmashtami by filling an earthen pot with curd, butter and other milk products which is hung at a height. Different groups form a human pyramid to reach the pot and break it.
