Four young girls tragically lost their lives in a drowning incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Sattijor village in Nanpara. The victims, aged between 10 and 14 years, had gone to the pond to gather lotus plants when they slipped into the deep water and drowned.
The victims were identified as Mehak Khatoon (14), Samia (10), Saiba (10) and Sarikul Khatoon (13).
The incident occurred under the Nawabganj police limits. Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Nanpara, Ashwini Kumar Pandey, confirmed that the bodies have been sent for a postmortem examination.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed condolences to the families and announced a financial aid of Rs 4 lakh for each victim’s family.
