66 children died after consuming Indian Cough Syrup, WHO ordered an investigation

New Delhi: 66 children died after consuming cough syrup. Such a sad incident has been seen in the Gambia. The children died after consuming Indian cough syrup. However, Maiden Pharmaceuticals Company of India produced four cough and cold syrups.

Therefore, the cough syrup made in India will be checked, said the World Health Organization (WHO).

An alert has been issued on 4 Indian medical products. Maiden Pharmaceuticals Limited, an Indian pharmaceutical company prepared this cough and cold syrup. However, 66 children died in The Gambia due to kidney problems after consuming this medicine.

However, due to the death of this child, there has been a wave of grief in their family. Director General of WHO Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the deceased. An investigation has been started by WHO regarding this incident. No response has come from the company in this regard.
