Itanagar: The Upper Siang district’s Singging village in Arunachal Pradesh, which is 25 kilometres from the Tuting headquarters, was the scene of a military helicopter crash on Friday. According to the Defence PRO in Guwahati, the accident site was not accessible by road, and hence an aerial rescue squad was dispatched.
A rescue team has been rushed and all other details are awaited,” Jummar Basar, Superintendent of Police, Upper Siang, said.
According to defence spokeswoman Col. AS Walia, the incident happened at 10 am during a normal sortie in a forward region.
Apparently, one of the two pilots on board was killed earlier this month when an Indian Army Cheetah helicopter crashed in the Tawang area of Arunachal Pradesh close to the border with China. The two onboard pilots were sent right away to a military hospital. He stated that one of the pilots who was seriously hurt later died as a result of his wounds.
Further details awaited.
