Bharat Jodo Yatra: Sonia Gandhi Joins In

Bengaluru: Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi joined Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, on Thursday. Before leaving for Delhi, she would march for a little length of time. A two-day hiatus for Dasara caused the Bharat Jodo Yatra to resume in the Mandya district.

On the occasion of Vijayadashami, Sonia Gandhi offered prayers at a temple in the H D Kote Assembly segment on Wednesday after arriving in Mysuru on Monday.

Priyanka Gandhi, the party’s general secretary, is also expected to join the yatra on Friday, in Mysuru.

On Wednesday, the 10-day internationally acknowledged Dasara celebrations in Mysuru Palace City came to an end, with an extravagant parade serving as the highlight. The ‘Jambu Savari,’ which was witnessed by thousands of people, featured a dozen caparisoned elephants led by ‘Abhimanyu’ carrying the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari, the royal family’s presiding deity, on a 750-kilogram howdah covered in gold.

In the meantime, Rahul Gandhi wrote to the Karnataka government on Wednesday to ask for their urgent assistance in rescuing an injured elephant calf at the Nagarahole Tiger Reserve, which is located in the Mysuru and Kodagu regions.
