BJP, AAP Councillors Clash Again Inside Delhi Civic Centre

New Delhi: Another clash broke out between AAP and BJP leaders inside the Delhi civic centre on Friday.

The fight broke out after Mayor Shelly Oberoi declared one vote invalid in the election to six members of the MCD’s standing committee.

This was the third day of commotion in the House and a councillor collapsed inside the Delhi civic centre.

On Friday, votes were counted in the municipal House after polling to elect six members of the MCD’s standing committee closed with 242 of the 250 councillors exercising their franchise.

While the BJP protested against Mayor Shelly Oberoi’s decision to allow members to carry mobile phones to the booth area during the election of the MCD panel, the AAP accused the saffron party of resorting to “hooliganism” because of its defeat in the mayoral polls.

A few BJP members claimed that some of their fellow party councillors got hit with objects flung in the air, while Mayor Shelly Oberoi alleged that some BJP councillors tried to attack her during the proceedings to hold the election to pick the six members of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
