BJP To Kick-off ‘Gujarat Gaurav Yatra’ Today

Ahmedabad: To mobilise voters ahead of the state assembly elections scheduled for this year’s end, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will begin the “Gujarat Gaurav Yatra” on five separate routes on Wednesday.

According to the agenda shared by the BJP, the party’s President JP Nadda will kick-off two of the five yatras scheduled to be held whereas, Union Homes Minister Amit Shah will flag off three of them.

BJP President JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will kick off the yatra on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

Notably, after the communal riots and before the 2002 state assembly elections, the then-Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi led the first ‘Gaurav Yatra.’ The second ‘Gaurav Yatra’ was held in 2017 ahead of the state elections that year.

The BJP won 127 of the 182 seats in 2002. However, in 2017, the opposition Congress won 77 seats against the saffron party’s 99.

Nadda will kick-start the yatra at the temple town of Dwarka, on Wednesday. The Yatra will also travel from the Mehsana’s Bahuchar Mata Temple. The BJP said on Tuesday that former deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel would also be present.

On Thursday, Shah will begin the yatra on one of three routes: one will start at the Sant Savaiyanath temple in Zanzarka Village, Ahmedabad District; the other two will start at the Unai Mata temple in Vansda Taluka, Navsari District.

At various points, numerous National and State BJP leaders will join the yatra.

Along with Nadda, the BJP announced that former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav, and former Minister Jawahar Chavda will join the yatra in Dwarka on Wednesday.

Several Union ministers will participate in the “Gujarat Gaurav Yatra” at various points, including Prahlad Singh Patel, Piyush Goyal, Mansukh Mandavia, Parshottam Rupala, and Anurag Thakur.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and state BJP chief CR Patil unveiled the chariot-modelled rath or vehicle in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
