BSNL Launches CinemaPlus OTT Streaming Service

New Delhi: Government-owned telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has finally entered the 4G market, aiming to catch up with private players such as Airtel and Reliance Jio.

While BSNL has been lagging behind in terms of providing high-speed data, it is making efforts to compete with Jio in another head. Recently, BSNL announced the launch of its own Over The Top (OTT) streaming platform called Cinemaplus, following Jio Cinema’s decision to monetize its presence in the market.

To bolster its offerings, BSNL has formed partnerships with prominent platforms like Lionsgate, ShemarooMe, and Hungama, through which it will stream shows and movies.

This move marks BSNL’s foray into the OTT space, although it should be noted that the company has essentially rebranded its existing platform, YuppTv, which used to be available for a monthly subscription fee of up to Rs 249.

Accessing content on Cinemaplus is straightforward for users with an active BSNL Fiber connection. They can activate one of the available plans, which will be linked to their registered phone number and grant them access to the platform’s content. The base plan, originally priced at Rs 99, is now available on Lionsgate, Shemaroo, and Hungama for Rs 49. Additionally, the Rs 199 plan includes premium content from Zee5, SonyLiv, Hotstar, and YuppTv.
