Doctor & Ward Boy Accused Of Gangrape In Lucknow; Apprehended

Lucknow: A doctor and a ward boy from a government hospital in Mahanagar, Lucknow, have been accused of gangrape and subsequently arrested.

Reports in the media suggest that the police move follows the alleged rape victim filing a complaint alleging that the doctor and the ward boy sexually assaulted her on April 30 when she was in the hospital receiving treatment.

The woman was sedated by the accused, according to the complaint, before they raped her.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), North, S.M. Qasim Abidi, “An FIR of gangrape under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 376-D and other appropriate charges has been registered at the Mahanagar police station against the doctor and the ward boy.”

The doctor, however, has pled innocent and denied the rape charge, according to DCP Abidi.

According to the doctor who is being held accountable, the patient had arrived at the hospital but was sent elsewhere for treatment. The doctor claimed that following that, he had never seen the complainant.

The state capital has seen four rape cases in the past five days, including this one.

Behind the Ekana International Stadium on Saturday, two people, including an auto-rickshaw driver, are accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old female.

Later on Sunday, a 52-year-old lady said that on October 4, employees of an ashram had sexually assaulted her.

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted on Tuesday at Gomti Nagar’s Lohia Park by her online friend.
