Drunk Civic Volunteer of Kolkata Police Hits Bike to RG Kar Protester, Arrested

A drunk civic volunteer of Kolkata Police hit a protesting student with his bike on Friday evening. He was arrested on Saturday.

Sanjay Roy, the accused arrested in the RG Kar rape and murder case, was also a civic volunteer attached to Kolkata Police.

The civic volunteer, identified as Gangasagar Golde was arrested for hitting the student volunteer with his bike.

A complaint was also registered against one traffic sergeant Tarakeswar Puri, who entered into a verbal spat with the protesting students after they surrounded the bike-borne civic volunteer after he allegedly hit one of the protesters.

This incident occurred at late Friday evening at BT road of Kolkata, while a group of former students of Rabindra Bharati University was protesting against the rape and murder incident. The motorcycle-borne civic volunteer allegedly hit one of them.

The other protesters immediately surrounded him. The civic volunteer initially tried to argue with the protesters but later was seen apologising to them.

Later, when the traffic sergeant came to intervene and tried to bring out the civic volunteer, the protestors engaged in a verbal spat with him.
