Food Delivery, E-commerce Platforms Shield Delivery Partners from Scorching Heat

New Delhi: As temperatures soar across India, leading food delivery and e-commerce platforms are implementing measures to safeguard their delivery partners from the blistering heat.

Zomato, a prominent food delivery service, has established 450 rest points nationwide, equipped with amenities like seating, free drinking water, mobile charging points, and clean washrooms. Over 5 lakh units of refreshments and juices will be distributed to active delivery partners across 250 cities. Additionally, a 15-minute ambulance and 24×7 SOS support are available in over 530 cities for immediate assistance. Zomato CEO Rakesh Ranjan has also announced the introduction of full-sleeve, dry-fit t-shirts for delivery partners and urged users to avoid ordering during peak afternoon hours.

Swiggy’s quick commerce platform, Swiggy Instamart, operates over 900 recharge zones in high-demand areas, providing rest areas, beverages, charging points, and restrooms for all delivery partners. Blinkit, owned by Zomato, offers SOS support within its delivery partners’ app and is installing air coolers in store waiting areas. Both Zomato and Blinkit provide insurance coverage for active delivery partners, including medical support.

Flipkart, a leading e-commerce platform, is also prioritising the well-being of its delivery workforce, known as wishmasters. Prajakta Kanaglekar, Vice President and HR Leader at Flipkart emphasised the importance of providing resources such as glucose beverages, additional fans, coolers, and summer safety management briefings to ensure adherence to heatwave advisories.
