I.N.D.I.A Faces Turbulence Ahead of Key Meeting as AAP Pushes for Kejriwal as PM Candidate

New Delhi: The third meeting of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) is set to take place in Mumbai on Sep 1, and it is already surrounded by controversies. AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar has stirred the pot by expressing her desire for Arvind Kejriwal, the party’s convenor and Delhi Chief Minister, to be the prime ministerial candidate for the alliance.

Kakkar praised Kejriwal for his vocal stance on various issues, positioning him as a strong contender against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She also highlighted the achievements of the AAP-led Delhi government, including free essential services, even in the face of inflation.

Kakkar’s statement has been met with mixed reactions. Some have welcomed her support for Kejriwal, while others have criticized her for creating unnecessary discord within the alliance. It remains to be seen whether Kejriwal will be the alliance’s choice for PM, but Kakkar’s statement has certainly put the issue on the table.

In addition to discussing the PM candidate, the INDIA meeting is also expected to focus on the alliance’s strategies for upcoming state and general elections. The alliance, consisting of 26 parties, emerged in opposition to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The inaugural meeting was hosted by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and the second meeting was held in Congress-ruled Karnataka.
