Chandigarh: Savitri Jindal, the wife of noted industrialist late O P Jindal, filed her nomination from the Hisar assembly seat in Haryana as an Independent on Thursday.
She is the mother of BJP’s Kurukshetra MP Naveen Jindal. She was an aspirant of a BJP ticket to fight the Haryana Assembly elections.
On the last day of the filing of nominations, 74-year-old Savitri Jindal filed her nomination against Haryana Minister and sitting MLA from Hisar Kamal Gupta.
According to Forbes India, Savitri Jindal is the richest woman in the country having a net worth of USD 29.1 billion.
Polling for the 90 Assembly seats in Haryana will be held on October 5. The results will be declared on October 8.
Savitri Jindal was elected as an MLA from the Hisar seat twice. She was elected in 2005 as a Congress MLA. She was reelected from the seat in 2009 and became a minister in the Singh Hooda government in 2013.
In March 2024, she left the Congress along with her son Naveen Jindal and later joined the BJP.
