Makers Defend “The Kerala Story” As Muslim Body Announces Rs 1 Cr Reward To Prove Claims

Mumbai: The trailer of the upcoming movie ‘The Kerala Story’, starring Adah Sharma, has caused a huge uproar across India as it made the allegation that 32,000 girls from the state went missing and later joined the terrorist organisation ISIS.

The Kerala government and the Congress both strongly opposed the film, calling for a ban on its exhibition in the state. The movie was scheduled for release in theatres on May 5.

Meanwhile, the Indian Union Muslim League’s (IUML) youth wing, the Muslim Youth League, issued a challenge to The Kerala Story’s makers on Monday. Youth League State General Secretary PK Firos offered a reward of Rs 1 crore to anyone who could substantiate the movie’s claims that 32,000 females were brought to Syria and converted to Islam through “love jihad.”

According to PK Firos, whoever had the proof could present it at the Muslim Youth League district centres’ counter and receive the reward money.

The Kerala Story targets terrorists, not Muslims, and there is nothing against the state in the entire film, according to the director, producer, and actor, who have all defended the film during the controversy.

The film’s producer, Vipul Shah, stated, “I have nothing against the state of Kerala. Nothing controversial is said in the movie. It is not Muslims that are the target of the movie. I want the Kerala CM to see the film.

“I made the movie after months of research,” the director Sudipto Sen stated. It was not backed by any producers. After conversing with the victims, my perspective was altered, and I was impacted greatly.
