Nagaur (Rajasthan): Some months after lithium reserves were found in Jammu and Kashmir the Geological Survey of India (GSI) recently discovered another reserve of the essential mineral in Degana in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district.
These reserves, which potentially supply 80% of the nation’s consumption, are thought to be significantly larger in amount than those found in J&K.
India now imports lithium, nickel, and cobalt, among other minerals.
Rechargeable batteries, especially those used in electric vehicles, portable electronic devices, and power tools, are the main products made with lithium. Due to its great energy density, lithium-ion batteries are a popular option for use in gadgets where size and weight are crucial considerations.
