MLA disguised as ‘Kumbhakaran’

Raipur: Santram Netam, MLA of Keshkal Assembly Constituency of Chhattisgarh, likes the character of Kumbhkaran very much. He has been playing the role of Kumbhakaran on stage since his childhood.

On this Dussehra too, he played the role of Kumbhkaran. Participated in the Vijayadashami celebrations at Badedongar, a village in his assembly constituency. MLA Santram appeared in the role of Kumbhakaran during the Ramayana recital. At first, no one knew that it was the MLA of the area, when the young man posing as Lord Shri Ram killed Kumbhkaran and he removed the mask, it was revealed that it was the MLA Santram Netam.

Santram Netam, MLA of Keshkal Assembly Constituency in Kondagaon district is also in the news from time to time due to his activities. He has been seen sometimes plowing the fields and sometimes singing and playing Baja (instrument) in ceremonies. MLA Santaram’s family is an example of simplicity even today. Everyone is convinced by his typical style. Santram Netam is the MLA for the second consecutive term from the Keshkal assembly constituency. He is the Vice Chairman of Bastar Development Authority. He holds the status of a minister of state, but the family’s lifestyle and attire are quite ordinary.

MLA Santaram Netam performed as Ravana’s brother Kumbhakaran. When Kumbhkaran arrived to perform, everyone thought a common man was participating in the ceremony. As he used to give his performance every year, he was performing this time as well. When Kumbhkaran was finally killed and he removed his mask, people realized that it was not a common man but MLA Santram Netam. MLA Santaram Netam congratulated everyone on Vijayadashami and thanked the committee for taking part in the program and getting the opportunity to perform Kumbhkaran.
