Namibian Cheetah Sasha Dies In Kuno National Park

Bhopal: A big cat Sasha, one of the eight cheetahs introduced in the Kuno National Park last year from Namibia, died on Monday.

The cheetah was suffering from a kidney infection for the last three months. A few months after Sasha was shifted to Kuno, she started ignoring the food.

Sasha was a captive-bred cheetah and her counterparts were showing well adaptation skills in hunting enclosures but Sasha showed weird behaviour and this left the Kuno officials worried as it was not showing well behaviour.

The cheetah reintroduction project is a high-stakes programme with the eyes of the international conservation community on it. The next lot of 12 cheetahs is to arrive in India very soon.
