Polling Booth for Single Voter & Other Unique Booths of Gujarat

To ensure that no voter is overlooked, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has undertaken a number of outreach initiatives. In one such case, the EC set up a polling station for just one voter, Mahant Haridasji Udasin, in Banej in the deep Gir woods for the first round of voting today in order to guarantee complete participation in the Gujarat Assembly elections.

The Election Commission tweeted a series of images demonstrating how they are assisting elderly and disabled voters and accessing difficult-to-reach places.

One of the tweets depicts voters in Shiyalbet village in the Amreli district, which is only accessible by boat and is encircled by the Arabian Sea. It stated that five polling places had been set up on the island.

In another image, 104-year-old Ramji Bhai is seen casting his ballot in person rather than using a postal ballot.

One of the voting places provided health screenings. EC announced, “India’s first health booth in Junagadh district.”

In one of the images, a group of blind voters posed outside a Surendra Nagar district polling place.

Meanwhile, the second phase of the Gujarat Assembly election is on December 5. December 8 has been set as the day of the verdict.
