President Murmu Calls for Strict Action Against Those Spreading False, Misleading Claims About Ayurveda

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday highlighted the need for stringent measures against individuals making false and misleading claims about Ayurveda, which takes advantage of people’s deep-rooted faith in this traditional medical system.

Speaking at the eighth foundation day of the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), she stressed the importance of safeguarding the integrity of Ayurveda.

Murmu noted that while Ayurveda has been revered for generations, the rise of misleading claims poses risks to public health and tarnishes the system’s reputation. “We must act decisively against those who exploit this faith,” she asserted.

She advocated for enhanced investment in research, consistent improvements in the quality of Ayurvedic products, and the empowerment of educational institutions dedicated to Ayurveda.

Furthermore, she urged that Ayurvedic products meet international standards to facilitate smooth exports, reinforcing India’s position as a leader in this ancient medical practice.

President Murmu expressed that Ayurveda, one of the oldest medical systems globally, should be recognised worldwide through a scientific and evidence-based approach. “The global recognition of Ayurveda and Yoga is growing, as people worldwide seek holistic health,” she said.

Additionally, she commended the AIIA for its collaborative research initiatives aimed at establishing Ayurveda as a credible, evidence-based science, thus strengthening its global standing.
