Rahul Gandhi To Address The UK Parliament Today

New Delhi/London: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, who is currently on a 10-day visit to the United Kingdom, will address the British Parliament premises today.

Gandhi will deliver an address in the UK Parliament in the Grand Committee Room of the Palace of Westminster in order to “embrace the cultural, social and business ties that bind both countries as the people are the living bridge”.

This comes a day after the former Congress chief interacted with the Indian diaspora and attended an event by the Indian Journalists’ Association.

He, last night also met Indians settled in the country and is scheduled to hold private business meetings. He will also speak at the London-based think tank, Chatham House.

At Cambridge, Rahul Gandhi said that Indian democracy is under attack and several politicians, including himself, are under surveillance. Rahul Gandhi is set to conclude his UK tour this week with an address at the Chatham House think tank in London on geopolitical issues.
Gandhi’s UK visit has not been received warmly back home in India, with the BJP accusing him of “defaming” the country abroad following his Cambridge University speech. Gandhi’s remarks at Cambridge University triggered a political slugfest as the BJP slammed Gandhi for maligning India on foreign soil while praising China.
