Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar Faces Legal Action Over Controversial Remarks on Kerala Blasts

New Delhi: Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar is now at the centre of a legal dispute due to his comments on the recent serial blasts in Kerala. Official sources have confirmed that a case has been filed against the minister, accusing him of spreading social hatred and promoting enmity between different groups.

Chandrasekhar’s remarks came shortly after the serial blasts that occurred during a prayer meeting in Kerala. In his comments on a social media platform, he criticized Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, alleging a politics of appeasement. He particularly pointed out an event where a Hamas operative delivered a virtual address, expressing concern about the allowance of such speeches.

In response to Chandrasekhar’s comments, Chief Minister Vijayan labelled them as reflective of a larger communal agenda. He called for restraint and respect for the ongoing investigations into the incident, emphasizing the importance of not targeting specific sections of the population prematurely.

Chandrasekhar further accused Kerala, under Chief Minister Vijayan’s leadership, of displaying increased tolerance towards radical elements and radicalization, pointing to a history of appeasement of such elements by political parties in the state.

The serial blasts in Kerala resulted in the tragic deaths of two women and a 12-year-old girl, with 50 people sustaining injuries. A 48-year-old man from the same Christian denomination that organized the prayer meeting later claimed responsibility for the blasts and surrendered to authorities.

This incident has sparked a heated exchange of words between the Union Minister and the Chief Minister, raising concerns about communal tensions and the political response to such events.
