Frisking & Biometric Attendance For JEE-Main Candidates To Be Repeated After Toilet Breaks

New Delhi: In an effort to fortify the integrity of the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE)-Main 2024, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced additional security measures. Candidates, along with officials, observers, staff members, and those serving refreshments, will now undergo frisking and biometric attendance, even after toilet breaks.

NTA Director Subodh Kumar Singh emphasized that these measures are designed to prevent any potential cases of unfair means or proxy attendance. While the screening and biometric attendance procedures are already in place at entry points, the new directive aims to make the entire examination process foolproof, ensuring zero incidents of malpractice.

The JEE-Main serves as the screening test for admissions to centrally-funded technical institutions such as NITs and IIITs. The top 20% of the merit list qualifies for the JEE (Advanced), the entrance test for Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Notably, the JEE (Main)-2024 will be conducted in 13 languages, including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. The Computer Based Test (CBT) is scheduled to take place from January 24 to February 1, with results set to be announced on February 12.

The NTA has witnessed an unprecedented 12.3 lakh registrations for the exam this time. Looking ahead, similar security measures are expected to be extended to other exams in the future. The second edition of the bi-annual exam is slated for April. Stay tuned for updates on this evolving situation.
