SUV Driven by 17-Yr-Old Hits & Kills Bike Rider Youth; Pune Incident Repeated in Mumbai

Mumbai: A speeding SUV driven by a 17-year-old boy hit a bike and killed a 24-year-old man in Mumbai’s Goregaon area on Thursday.

The teen driver was arrested by the police. A case has been lodged against him and two others, including the SUV owner.

The deceased identified as Navin Vaishnaw was out on his bike to distribute milk when the Mahindra Scorpio driven by the teen came from the wrong side to crash with his two-wheeler. The SUV then hit an electric pole. The teenage driver tried to escape. But he was also injured in the accident and was nabbed by the police.

A case was registered against the 17-year-old, the SUV owner Iqbal Jivani (48) and his son Mohammed Faz Iqbal Jivani (21).

The teenage boy’s blood samples were sent for test to determine whether he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

The incident is similar to Pune Posrche car incident, where a 17-year-old who was allegedly drunk, rammed a bike with the car, killing two IT engineers on May 19.
