Durg (Chhattisgarh): As is customary, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had his arm whipped in honour of the Gaura-Gauri puja. Whiplash on the festival is thought to fend off unfavourable omens. CM Baghel said on Twitter that performing the ritual was a component of the act.

As part of a Chhattisgarh’s Durg area’s folk custom, he sustained whiplash on his wrist. It is thought that occasionally taking blows to the hand will ward off evil. The Chhattisgarh chief minister may be seen in the images receiving numerous whippings on his arms while still smiling. On the other hand, the ritualist could be seen whipping the chief minister with all of his might.
Sota is the name of the tradition. Although many consider the practice to be superstitious, it has been a long-standing custom.
Notably, the CM had his arm whipped last year as well.
