World Record Alert: World’s Largest Diya Made Of 1,000 KG Of Steel Lit In Punjab

Punjab: A world record was established when the largest diya ever lit was installed at the Hero Homes in Mohali, Punjab, whose diameter was 3.37 metres, and about 1,000 kg of steel was put into its construction.

10,000 people gathered about 3,560 litres of organic and diya-appropriate oils, including 4,000 inhabitants of Hero Homes.

The enormous stainless-steel diya, which had a festival of peace theme, was ignited in front of the Guinness World Records official adjudicators who were there for the occasion at the society. According to the Guinness Book of Records, this diya is the largest one to have ever been lit because 3,560 litres of cooking oil were used to light it.

The lamp was lit by Lt Gen (Retd) K.J. Singh PVSM, AVSM, former GOC Western Command. “This is a rare event that combines the dual goals of celebrating Diwali in accordance with tradition and one that also manages to promote an important social message,” he said, it seems appropriate that the biggest symbol of peace is now located in Punjab, the region that has experienced the most conflict over many years.

The return of peace and harmony is symbolised by Diwali, opined Ashish Kaul, CMO at Hero Realty. The oil in the diya, which was gathered from many people regardless of their areas, dialects, faiths, and other cultural creeds, symbolises Indians’ one commitment to peace and spirit, he added.
