19 Injured in Blast Furnace Mishap in Tata Steel’s Meramandali Plant

Dhenkanal: At least 19 persons were seriously injured in a blast furnace accident at Tata Steel’s Meramandali plant in Dhenkanal district of Odisha. The injured were shifted to a private hospital in Cuttack.

According to initial reports, this mishap occurred when the steam pipe of blast furnace -2 of this Tata Steel plant exploded. Because of it, extremely hot water and steam poured on the workers engaged at the spot. They suffered severe burn injuries.

All those injured/ill in the incident have been admitted to a private hospital in Cuttack, said latest reports.
