2 Govt Employees Arrested for Duping Through Promise of Job at Puri Med College

Puri: Two government employees were arrested on charges of defrauding people on the pretext of providing them jobs at Sri Jagannath Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Puri district.

The accused were identified as Kartika Sethi from Palli village under Brahmagiri police limits and Batakrushna Bhoi from Nalihana under Puri Sadar Police limits.

Reportedly, Sethi works in the postal department, and Bhoi is a peon at the Chief District Medical Officer’s (CDMO) office.

According to reports, the duo allegedly duped three persons in Budhang village under Brahmagiri police limits of around Rs 4 lakh by promising them data entry operator jobs at the hospital.

Over seven to eight cheating complaints were filed against the accused at Brahmagiri police station.

“A complaint was received against Sethi and Bhoi for cheating people on the pretext of offering jobs. There are other complaints against them too. All the complaints are being probed,” said the IIC of Brahmagiri, Dilip Kumar Dhal.

They have been charged under IPC Sections 420, 468, 471, 34, and 120 (B). They were forwarded to court on Saturday following the arrest.
