2 Policemen Injured in Mayurbhanj Dist While Trying to Stop Group Clash

Mayurbhanj: Two policemen were injured while trying to stop a group clash over a land dispute at Belpal village under Badasahi police station limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

Because of the aggravation of the land dispute, the villagers blocked the Badsahi–Betanati road for a long time. Officials of the administration and police reached the spot along with the police force.

It is alleged that the protestors attacked the police and damaged a police van. Several persons including two police officials were reportedly injured in the incident. The injured have been admitted to a local hospital.

According to the reports, a person from the Belpal village took a loan from a local branch of a bank by mortgaging his land. He defaulted in repayment of the loan and the bank authorities auctioned the land patch.

In protest, Prabodh approached the court of law and received a ruling in his favour. When the man tried to fence the patch of land, the persons who had bought it through auction opposed it. This led to a group clash.
