2-Yr-Old Boy Dies Buried Under Debris of House Ransacked by Wild Elephants in Mayubhanj

Baripada: A two-year-old boy was buried alive under the debris of a house ransacked by a herd of wild elephants at Saitapur village under Betanati Forest Range in Mayurbhanj district on Friday Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as the son of Yudhistir Kisku and Rina Kisku.

On Friday night, a herd of seven elephants strayed into the village and targeted the house of Yudhistir Kisku. The wild pachyderms ransacked the house. The child sleeping with his mother and grandmother was trapped under the debris when a wall of the house collapsed.

The injured child was rescued out of the debris and was rushed to the Betanati hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The police have registered a case of unnatural death and have initiated an investigation.
