5 Arrested for Kidnapping Businessman for Rs 1.5 Cr in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police arrested five persons in connection with the kidnapping of a senior citizen for a ransom of Rs 1.5 Crore in Bhubaneswar.

The businessman was identified as Manoj Mohapatra. He was abducted at gunpoint by four men on Friday evening from the Jagannath nagar area.

According to reports, after the kidnapping, the kidnappers called his family members and informed them that he would be released at a ransom of rupees one and a half crore.

Reportedly, the victim was beaten and his legs and hands were tied. A video of the act was sent to the family. The family members reported the matter to the Lakshmi Sagar police station.

After filing the complaint, police conducted an investigation and rescued Manoj from the Nimapada area. The cops are interrogating the arrested accused.
