60-Year-Old Woman Raped in Cuttack

Cuttack: A 60-year-old woman was allegedly raped by an unknown man in the Buxi Bazar Pension Lane area of Odisha’s Cuttack city.

Following the incident two days ago, a complaint was lodged with the Mahila Police Station by the local corporator.

As per the complaint, the incident took place when the elderly woman was alone in her house.

“An unidentified youth, having a ponytail, attacked the old woman and raped her while she was alone in her house. As she is staying alone, I have registered a police complaint on her behalf. This is a shameful incident. I hope that the police will soon identify the accused and take stern action against him,” said local corporator A. Sridevi.

DCP Pinak Mishra informed that police have registered a case in this regard and conducted medical examination of the victim.

“Senior police officials have visited the spot. We are now examining the CCTV footage collected from the locality. We will soon identify the accused and arrest him,” he added.
