Amaravati: At least seven persons died when a mini truck loaded with cashew nuts carrying eight passengers veered off the road and plunged into a canal in Andhra Pradesh’s East Godavari district late on Tuesday night.
The accident occurred near Devarapalli village. According to police sources, the truck driver while trying to avoid a pothole, lost control. The vehicle overturned and fell into the canal.
Seven persons sitting on top of the lorry died on the spot. One injured person was admitted to a nearby hospital. All victism were from Jangreddygudem.
In a similar incident in August, three children were injured when a private school bus overturned in Andhra Pradesh’s Prakasam district. The bus with 40 students veered off the road and fell into agricultural fields in Pamuru mandal.
