9 People Arrested in Connection to Group Clash in Puri

Puri: Nine persons were arrested belonging to two groups clashed at Puri Market Chhak over past enmity.

As many as three persons were injured while two of them were critically injured in an alleged attack at Khadipada Melana in Puri Badadanda Market.

Meanwhile, two critically injured persons were shifted to Cuttack SCB Medical as their health condition deteriorated.

According to sources, the incident took place Friday late at night during gambling at the same locality of the pilgrimage city.

Suddenly, a verbal altercation between the two groups turned violent and some miscreants among them attacked others with sharp weapons.

Following these three persons were injured and the condition of two among them is stated to be critical.

Though the exact reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the past rivalry played a foul game behind the scene.

On being informed, police reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter. More details are awaited.
