New Delhi: India’s medal chase continues as boxer Lovlina Borgohain fought her way valiantly to a Silver against China in the Women’s 75 kg Boxing final in Hangzhou. Lovlina lost to China’s Li Qian in a unanimous 5-0 decision by the judges.
Lovlina was forced on the back foot by the Chinese pugilist who opted for the relentless attack in the opening round.
The insistence on defence even got Lovlina a passivity warning in the opening round. The judges ruled the round 3-2 in favour of Qian.
Borgohain beat Thailand’s Maneekon Baison 5-0 in the semifinal with a unanimous decision from the judges, and she also booked her berth in next year’s Paris Olympics.
