Ayodhya Priest Found Hanging; Blames Police for His Suicide

Ayodhya: Ram Shankar Das, a priest of a temple in Ayodhya was found hanging in his room on Monday afternoon. A video recorded by him before his death is making rounds on social media in which this priest of Ayodhya’s Narasimha temple alleges that harassment by the local police compelled him to end his life.

A few days back, Das was booked by police in a case related to the disappearance of an elderly mahant of the same temple. This mahant went missing a few months ago.

Ayodhya Kotwali SHO in a statement alleged that Ram Shankar Das was addicted to drugs and ended his life under the influence of drugs. Ayodhya police denied the allegations made by the deceased priest.

Police are investigating the matter. His post-mortem report is awaited.
