BCCI Not Ready to Send Indian Team to Pakistan, Suggests Alternative Venue for Champions Trophy 2025
New Delhi: According to reports, the BCCI is not ready to send the Indian team to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. It has decided to ask the International Cricket Council to hold its matches in Sri Lanka or Dubai, reported ANI quoting a BCCI source.
The ICC Champions Trophy is scheduled to be held in February-March 2025 in Pakistan. Due to the tumultuous relationship between the two countries, India has not played any cricket match in Pakistan since 2008’s Asia Cup. Since then, both nations have only clashed at ICC tournaments and the Asia Cup.
The Pakistan Cricket Board had proposed to India to play all its matches in Lahore. But BCCI is not interested in it.
BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla, in May, said that the Indian team would be sent to Pakistan for the tournament only if the central government permits it.
During the 2023 Asia Cup, the PCB was compelled to use a hybrid strategy, with all of India’s matches–including those against Pakistan–taking place in Sri Lanka.
Pakistan won the last Champions Trophy in 2017.
