BJD MLA’s Daughter-in-Law Files Dowry Torture Case Against Hubby and In-Laws

Bhubaneswar: Ronali Behera (31), the daughter-in-law of BJD MLA Shashi Bhusan Behera has registered a case of domestic violence and alleged dowry torture against her husband and in-laws.

Ronali alleged in her police complaint that her husband, parents-in-law, sister-in-law, and aunt-in-law were inflicting physical and mental torture on her. She alleged that they were constantly threatening her to comply with their financial demands.

Satya Prakash (35), the son of the BJD MLA had married Ronali in Bhubaneswar in 2021. Ronali’s father had complied with all the demands of Ronali’s in-laws. According to her, when she expressed her father’s inability to meet the financial demands, she was abused and humiliated by both her mother and sister-in-law in obscene language. Ronali alleged that her husband was having an affair with another woman. She alleged that her husband did not even support her financially to pursue her PhD, the FIR stated.

She has even alleged that when she desperately went to her father-in-law for help, he asked her to remain silent. When she went back to her parental home, her in-laws made any efforts get her back, she claimed.
