BJP MLAs Son Caught taking Bribe in Karnataka; Rs 6 Crores Seized from His Home

Bengaluru: Around Rs 6 crore rupees in cash was seized during the searches at the residence of the bureaucrat son of a Karnataka BJP MLA, who was caught accepting a bribe a day ago. The anti-corruption wing of the Lokayukta raided the home of BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa’s son Prashanth Madal.

Madal Virupakshappa is the chairman of the Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL) which produces the famous ‘Mysore Sandal Soap’. His son Prasanth Madal is the chief accountant at Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB).

On Thursday, Prasanth Madal was nabbed while taking a bribe of Rs 40 lakh. The anti-corruption wing of the Lokayukta arrested him. Later raids at his home led to the seizure of three bags of cash worth around Rs 6 crore. He was caught taking a bribe from a contractor for awarding a deal for raw materials required to manufacture soap and other detergents.

Prashanth Madal is a 2008-batch Karnataka Administrative Services officer. Virupakshappa is the MLA from Channagiri in the Davangere district.
