BJP’s Gadkari Praises Manmohan Singh

New Delhi: Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari praised former Congress Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the economic reforms brought in the country. Gadkari’s praise for the Congress leader comes at a time when the BJP is trying hard to downplay and criticise the Congress rule in the country.

While speaking at a function organised by ‘TaxIndiaOnline’, Gadkari said India is indebted to former prime minister Manmohan Singh for the economic reforms. According to him the economic reforms started by Manmohan Singh as the finance minister in 1991 gave way to a liberal economy and gave a new direction to India.

He did not forget to add that as a state minister he was able to raise money to build roads in Maharashtra during the 1990s because of economic reforms initiated by the former prime minister. He stressed that liberal economic policy benefits farmers and the poor.
