Youth Brutally Killed For Unknown Reason

Keonjhar: A youth has been brutally killed in Hundula village under Keonjhar Sadar police station. It is alleged that the accused conspired to pour petrol into the youth’s house and killed him. Pranab Mahanta (25) died. The incident took place on Saturday night and residents informed the police after seeing the body in front of the house on Sunday morning.

The police sent the body to the district head hospital for post-mortem and started the investigation with the help of a scientific team. Based on the complaint of the deceased’s father, Prakash Mahanta, the police have registered a murder case (No. 387/22) and detained Bhuvan Das and Shakti Prasad Das of that village. Both are father and son in a relationship, police said.

According to information, Pranav beat up Bhuban’s younger son who ran a shop on Hundula Street on Saturday. About this, Bhuban’s family informed Sadar police station. Bhuvan’s family members became angry because Pranab was not taken to the police station even after the police reached the spot. Late on Saturday night, Bhuvan along with family members went to Pranab’s house along with some youths from the village. Pranav got scared and closed the house door. Later, they set fire to the house with petrol and smoked peppercorns. The deceased’s father stated in the complaint that after Pranab left the house unconscious, Bhuvan’s accomplices ganged up and killed him with sharp weapons. Sadar police station officer Sunil Kar said that the body has been autopsied. 2 people are being detained and questioned in the incident. The reason for the murder will be known after the investigation.
