BSF Sets Up 6th COB in Maoist Prone Malkangiri Dist

Malkangiri: The Border Security Force (BSF) has set up its 6th company operating base (COB) at Tulasi Dongri Reserve Forest in Malkangiri district to counter Maoist menace in the region.

The new COB of the BSF located within Tulasi Dongri Reserve Forest is close to the Chhattisgarh border. This region has remained a safe haven for Maoists for a long because of remoteness and hilly forest.

During the inauguration of this new COB, the tricolour was unfurled with a large congregation of local residents.

The BSF personnel were deployed in the naxal-infested regions of Odisha’s Malkangiri in 2010. Since its deployment, BSF is operating actively in the area and is successfully countering the Maoists’ strategy for the safety and security of the public in the interior pockets and remote localities of Malkangiri.

Increased anti-Maoist activities by State police and BSF have reduced Maoist violence in the region. Several Maoist cadres have also surrendered.
