Bus Conductor Sacked for Stopping Bus for Namaz Ends Life in UP

Lucknow: Mohit Yadav, a bus conductor in Uttar Pradesh, who was sacked as he had stopped a state transport bus to allow some passengers to offer namaz, committed suicide.

According to police sources, he jumped in front of a train to end his life on Monday. In June Mohit’s contract was terminated after he stopped the Bareilly-Delhi Janrath bus on the highway to allow some passengers to offer namaz. He and his family were suffering an acute financial crisis after he lost his job.

Mohit Yadav was getting a salary of Rs 17,000 and was looking after a family of eight members. After losing the job as a bus conductor, he had failed to procure another job.

“My husband paid the price of humanity,” his wife Rinki Yadav told reporters.

After the video of the bus being stopped for a few minutes for namaz by some passengers was circulated on social media, Mohit Yadav and the bus driver were suspended by the UP Transport Department without any notice.
