Cabinet Reshuffle Hinted, PM Modi to Chair Meeting of Ministers Today

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a meeting of his Council of Ministers on Monday. This has enhanced speculations regarding a possible Cabinet reshuffle in the coming days.

This meeting will be held in the newly built convention center at Pragati Maidan in Delhi, which will host the G20 summit in September.

The defection of key NCP leaders in Maharashtra on Sunday also leads to speculations of a cabinet reshuffle. Ajit Pawar changed colours to join the Eknath Shinde government along with some NCP MLAs.

Former Union minister and senior NCP MP Praful Patel, who ditched Sharad Pawar and NCP to join hands with Ajit Pawar is said to be the likely new minister in the central government.

To satisfy alliance partners, PM Modi will give berths in the Cabinet, during the expected reshuffle of the Council of Ministers.

This reshuffle may occur before the Parliament’s Monsoon Session that starts on July 20. This reshuffle will keep the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in view.

PM Modi held a meeting with Amit Shah and JP Nadda on June 28 to take stock of organisational and political affairs. This meeting followed closed-door meetings involving the Home Minister and the BJP party president.

Elections are due in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Mizoram later this year.
