Case Against Anandapur MLA for Misbehaving With ZP Member

Bhubaneswar: A case was registered against the Anandapur MLA Bhagirathi Sethy by Police for his alleged misbehavior against a Zilla Parishad Member of Keonjhar district.

It is alleged that the MLA had allegedly misbehaved with the Zone-3 Zilla Parishad Member of Keonjhar, Aseema Mishra, on August 30, 2022. The incident is said to have happened during the Anandapur Panchayat Samiti meeting.

It is alleged that the Anandapur MLA had abused the Zilla Parishad Member and asked her to leave the meeting.

Assema Mishra had lodged a complaint in this connection with the Anandapur police. When police did not register the case against the MLA and initiate any action, the ZP member moved the Orissa High Court seeking registration of a case against Sethy.

Hearing the petition, the High Court directed the police to register a case against the MLA. So, police were compelled to register a case under Sections 294 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the MLA.
