Chhattisgarh Woman with Chained Legs Rescued from Mahanadi River in Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda: Locals rescued a woman from Chhattisgarh, whose legs were found to be tied with a chain, from the Mahanadi river in Jharsuguda district of Odisha on Thursday.

She could be fished out from the river at Palsada Ghat under the Lakhanpur block of Jharsuguda district while being swept away by the strong current.

The rescued woman was identified as Sarojini Ranveer from Purat village in Chhattisgarh. It was found that her feet were tied with a chain, which restricted her movement.

After being provided food by the locals, she is said to be stable.

The locals have informed police officials about the rescued woman. It is yet to be ascertained, how she fell into the river and why her legs are chained.
