China’s Attempt Tackled By Our Troops In A Determined Manner: Rajnath In Parliament

New Delhi: A day after the Tawang sector clash news surfaced, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh made his statement in Parliament today on the India-China issue.

Speaking both in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, Defence Minister Singh said, “On Dec 9 in the Yangtse area of Tawang sector PLA troops encroached upon & attempted to change the status quo. This attempt was tackled by our troops in a determined manner. Our troops bravely stopped PLA from encroaching upon our territory&forced them to go back to their post.”

“I want to assure the House that our forces are committed to guard our borders and ready to thwart any attempt that will be made to challenge it,” Defence Minister said.

“Due to the timely intervention of the Indian military commanders, the PLA soldiers went back to their locations. Following the incident, the local commander of the area held a flag meeting with his Chinese counterpart on 11 December 2022, under established arrangements, and discussed the incident. This matter has also been taken up with China through diplomatic channels,” Defence Minister added.

Reportedly, clashes broke out between both sides along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal’s Yangste area of Tawang sector.

Soldiers from both sides sustained injuries as they traded barbs. The face-off led to minor injuries to a few personnel from both sides. At least Indian six soldiers were injured in the clash and were brought to Guwahati for treatment
